Separate & permanent sign guestbook page URL?

Hi,

I was wondering if there were a way to have a separate, permanent sign page URL (something like sign.php) for Signme? :)

Thanks very much. :) God bless.

ai_,

I'm not sure what you mean by a separate, permanent sign page.  If you want a page called "sign.php" with nothing but the sign up form on it, you can just create a new page, save it as "sign.php", and have the page use the following code:

<!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.01 Transitional//EN">
<html>
<head>
<title>SignMe</title>
</head>
<body>

<?include ('signme.inc.php');?>

</body>
</html>

Is that what you mean by a separate, permanent sign page?

Re: Separate & permanent sign guestbook page URL?

yeah, i want a page with nothing but the sign form on it, but using the php include did not quite give me that :(

adding the php include shows me the "sign here | view entries" links at the top of the entries pages, right? and everytime i hover over the "sign here" link to get to the sign form, the URL changes for that page. i suppose that's to prevent spam. but i sort of want a completely separate page for my sign form, which I can call "sign.php" -- and the url doesn't change.

in short, i want something like bellabook -- the demo is here -- only simpler :P (look at the top two links, "sign the guesbook" and "view the guestbook" -- the links to them don't change, it's always "sign.php" and "index.php" respectively)

thanks very much for your time!

Re: Separate & permanent sign guestbook page URL?

I understand what you are saying now, ai_, but I'm still confused as to why you need a separate "sign.php" form?  If you look at the bellabook demo, the "sign guestbook | view entries" links are on both the "index.php" and "sign.php" pages.

If you could let us know what you plan to do that you need a separate "sign.php" page (maybe just a .jpg of how you want it different), perhaps we could help with a workaround using the script as is or possibly work out how to separate out a "sign.php" page at that point.  It may be easier to do one over the other depending on the purpose of what you would like to do.

Re: Separate & permanent sign guestbook page URL?

um, because i plan to password-protect only the "sign.php" page so no visitors can post messages, but the "view" page can be viewed by all. :P (that's about it.)

i see also that the "sign and view" links on bellabook are positioned side by side, but the difference is, the "sign" link points to a permanent http://domain.com/subdomain/sign.php page, and not to a variable http://domain.com/subdomain/sign.php?ha … cd8a9b771a page. :)

if this can be done, it would be sweet, but if not, no sweat, i'm still gonna use signme for sure. :)

thank you and God bless.
